The Journey
I bought this beautiful old Coaching Inn in June 2021. It dates back to the early 1800s. Originally designed to look after travellers on horseback it soon adapted to look after users of the railway as it sat above Alyth Junction. Locals would refer to it as 'the junction' so it seems apt to formalise that name.
The old pub/hotel has been given a new lease of life as a self catering property. Its still a work in progress. The five first floor en-suite bedrooms have all been individually decorated and can sleep up to 12. All rooms have zip and link beds so can be used as a king size or as single beds.Â
The old bar area is now a light and spacious kitchen/diner. There are two further reception rooms on the ground floor. Guests 13 and 14 will be accommodated on a double occasional bed in the TV lounge which has an adjoining shower room. A small utility room with washer/dryer completes the ground floor.
Outside the extensive gardens are easily capable of handling a large marquee. The raised decking holds the hot tub where guests can relax and look up to Kinpurnie Tower high above on the hill.
Whilst the railways have gone the old lines give plenty of opportunity for walks and wildlife spotting. The property is situated between the coast and the Angus Glens with access to all associated activities. It is well placed for golf and history and only 20 minutes drive to the city of Dundee and its attractions.
Future plans include adding a further two accessible en-suite bedrooms and developing the function suite and outbuildings.
I look forward to welcoming you and continuing my journey with you.
